Pride Humanist wedding Suffolk

July 4, 2019

beach wedding

Jo and Ron’s Humanist wedding in Long Melford, Suffolk was HOTHOTHOT.

Jo and Ron tied the knot.
Buckets of ice were put to good use

First it was hot. As in over 30C.

This was the first wedding where paramedics were required for fainting guests. And it was neither the beauty of my words, nor the sight of the stunning brides that did it! It was simply HOT.

Second it was HOT because they were the most authentic, loving and generous women I have met in ages.

Third it was HOT because the love and kindness that surrounded them on Saturday created its own energy and heat.

Fourth it was HOT because the emotion on the day was on fire!

Sometimes only a downward dog in cute little sandals will do.

Here were two women, in love, and everyone – simply everyone – was wishing them well. Their story was writ large on every face and their quiet and modest joy in one another was reflected in everyone’s eyes.

The three of us pretending we know what we are doing!

Soha and Emily wrote and spoke from the heart. And Anna sang and played her heart out. And after the wedding, Ron Anna and Emily sang a very special song for Jo that had us all in tears.

This wedding was everything a wedding should be. It was simply about the couple. It was modest, not overstated. It allowed the love between Jo and Ron to be visible. We used handfasting ribbons in Pride colours which made it very special.

Just perfect. In every way. I cried on the journey home. A rare thing indeed. Jo and Ron I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon watching Wimbledon and that Latitude is great for you this year. See you there next year! ??????

A few weeks ago someone told me I should probably be thinking about retiring by now. I laughed so hard I nearly dropped my tea. If anything, this year has shown me the exact opposite — that the work I do stretches wider and matters more than ever. From the grandest...

Sustainable humanist wedding

Saturday's humanist wedding was a blast. it proved that a wonderful wedding doesn't have to have masses of bells, whistles, expensive shoes, big cars, expensive cakes, lots of bling. Instead, Simon and Nina's humanist wedding was gentle (at the beginning) rising to a...
